FIND THAT ELUSIVE BOOK! Looking for a book but you can't remember the title or author?
We get requests for help now and then in finding a certain book. Sometimes people can't remember the title or the author, but they can describe the storyline. Sometimes they remember a character's name. Between the four of us, we do a lot of reading, but there are just so many books out there that we don't always know the books they are trying to find. So, we are throwing it out there in hopes that everyone can help!

I'm sure her name is Mara, the guy who she meets then helps her later on is John. Her sister is the favorite. Who she thinks is her father, Ashford? Rapes then Mara runs away. To a ex madams house where John helps her set up her dress shop. A Hurricane south on Houston hits and lives are lost? Tried to find this book, but I haven't seen are heard where it could be, late eighties. Mara's Way?

it is a older harlequin book. She is a bodygaurd for a exc. of a big company, I think he is the President. He does not like the idea of having a bodyguard. gives her a hard time. She gets shot protecting him. Another one I am looking for is about a woman has a brain tumor and only as little time left. she takes a boat crusie. he is a doctor but no one knows because he is on vacation and he wants it to be a secret. she almost dies but he finds out, does the surgury and she lives. thisbook is at least 20 yrs ago

Hi, its a Silhouette book actually I'm looking for the series, in this series there is a sherriff called Nate and his wife called Maggie (I think), in one of books of the series Maggie has a long lost son who turns up, in another book there is a guy called Gage who has alot of scars who finds love. I can't remember anything else but I'd love to find them, thanks alot.

ANSWER FOR ASMA: I found two books that seem like they might be the two you are asking about, but they aren't in the same series. Maybe one of them is correct. The one with the guy named Gage who has scars might be "Miss Emmaline and the Archangel" by Rachel Lee. It's part of the Conard County series and here is the description: Emmeline Conard is the prim and proper librarian in the small mid-Western town of Conard County. Emma doesn't date, is extremely cautious and lives a very lonely existence. Everything changes when she develops a friendship with Gage Dalton, the new man in town. Although Gage is a handsome man, it is clear from his severe limp and scars on his face that he was involved in a terrible accident. The other one might be "Marriage By Necessity" by Christine Rimmer. It has characters named Nate and Meggie. Nate is a private investigate, not a sheriff, so this may not be correct. This is the description: To fulfill the requirement of her deceased father's will to marry and produce a child, a high-spirited rancher implores a rugged private investigator to become her temporary husband.

ANSWER FOR BRENDA: The only thing I can find on this is a book called, "Mara's Way" by Diana Stainforth, published in 1987, but I can't find any description on it except where someone said the girl cam up from the depths of poverty and ended up having something to do with racing cars. Does that sound familiar?

Message for Robin: Thanks so much, it is the Conard County series I've been searching for, I've now found 'Miss Emmaline and the Archangel', the other book is also part of the Conard County series 'Point Of No Return' where the sherrif is Nate, but I got the wifes name wrong. I'm looking for an old superromance book that had a woman carpenter named Sam that could hack it and was bought out by this bigger company owned by a man but not before she tried to save her business for her sister Brook and mother. I've been looking for this book a long time.

I am looking for a historical western romance. I think it was published in 1992(but again i'm not sure). The hero was a sheriff of an old west town. The heroine was dressed as a boy picking pockets at her granfather's "medicine show". The grandfather has a heart attack and he and the heroine move in with the sheriff and his "wife" Who was really his stepmother. She was blackmailing him with the death of his father because she either seduced or tried and the sheriff's father dropped dead when he caught them. The sheriff came from a prominent family and moved out west to escape the past. The book had a yellow jacket and picture on spine. I have a thousand books but this was my first romance and I lost it in a house fire. I really want it back. Thanks

I read this book in the early 80's. It was not over 1984. A girl that was raised by a strict aunt & uncle works in a book store. A well off guy comes in looking for a book and comes back again to ask her out. If I remember correctly she is suppose to have long blonde hair that she later cuts to a shoulder length bob. They have a whirlwind romance. He marries her, takes her back to his family where they break him up. She leaves him, but doesn't tell him she is pregnant with his baby. About five years later he shows up at her "flat" and forces her to come back with him under the guise that he will grant a divorce as long as she plays along with the "happy" marriage. I want to say the girls name is Amber, Alainna, or something of that effect. The guys name is Collen, Cole ??? It is either in Harlequin Romance or Presents. My mom was a book club member and this book was among one of them she had got. I remember there being a tree in the distant background of the cover. Any help would be much appreciated in locationg this book as I have almost bought out ebay on Presents and this book has not been in any of the ones I have.

Marty a shy ad exec and Dominic, a mechanic. Her cars blows he helps
find her a car she falls for a red mustang. He falls for her, but shes
a rape victim and is very shy and afraid of her feelings. Its set at
the end of year so there are fall festivals etc. If it rings any bells
please let me know. Oh I also remember the cover had Marty in a green
